Here’s a showcase of astrophotographs from my backyard and the Rose-Hulman Oakley Observatory.
These are photos I took from the Oakley Observatory at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology through 21-inch PlaneWave Reflectors.
TOP ROW (left to right): Cocoon Nebula (C19), Ring Nebula (M57)
BOTTOM ROW (left to right): Triangulum Galaxy (M33), Helix Nebula (7293), Dumbbell Nebula (M27), Edge-on Galaxy (NGC 891)
Above is a video of a minor planet 31 Euphrosyne that I analyzed with pinpoint astrometry for orbit determination at the Oakley Observatory. The minor planet is the white dot that moves with respect to the star field.
These are photos of some of our local and more distant planetary neighbors. I took these images with the SkyWatcher 100ED and a Sony a6000 camera from my backyard in Northern Virginia.
I took these images of nebula and galaxies from my backyard in Northern Virginia using an Explore Scientific ED80 and a dedicated astronomy camera.
